The buoyant sound of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields remains a perpetual wonder of the musical world. In this performance, the Academy puts its effervescence in the service of an exquisite all-Beethoven program. Superstar violinist and music director Joshua Bell brings his breathtaking virtuosity and sumptuous tone to Beethoven’s D Major violin concerto, and leads the balance of the program from the concertmaster’s chair.
